Outdoor Chaise Lounge

An outdoor chaise lounge can be commonly seen poolside. The chaise lounge chair originally created in the 1500’s during the renaissance period. The long chair was designed specifically for lounging and soon found its way outdoors when it arrived in America.

An outdoor chaise lounge should be weather and water resistant. Most lounges are made from plastic and stainless steel. If a wood chaise is chosen make sure the wood can withstand the weather, such as teak. A slatted design will allow water to drain instead of pooling where one sits. Cushions should also be mildew resistant to prevent the cushion from rotting. Fabric cushions should be taken indoors during a storm.

An adjustable back can be found on most lounges. This is perfect for getting the right amount of sun or reading. Another fun twist is the double outdoor chaise lounge which is wide enough to hold two people. Remember just because a lounge made for outdoor use doesn’t mean all lounges are safe to leave outside. Check to make sure the materials can handle the elements.
